Making shoes is a living. Designing shoes is a living and so is the manufacturing. Being a cobbler is a living.

What an odd phrase: “It’s a living.” Or some say, “It’s a job.” A phrase of acceptance or, possibly, defeat.

Living is making money or doing work. Both, if one’s lucky.

Luck. Some don’t have a lot of it. Some live with bad choices. Some die because of those bad choices.

I’m a cobbler, and I’ll apply my magic to this pair of shoes. Any gangster or hobo who picks them up will have a second chance to live with their choices.
