The insect couldn’t speak. Sounds emitted from its claw-like jowls. Clicks like micro cracks came from its moving legs. The thing, though, couldn’t scream. Nor could its offspring or siblings warn it of what was to come down and splat its beetle body.

If the bug had any type of inclination, it would have known of its fate – doomed any time (each and every time) this type of massive object loomed and lowered from above, especially since the mission of those aboard the large craft was to collect planetary specimens such as itself.

Instead of having the foresight of knowing what’s to happen, any and every landing, for this particular alien insect, resulted in death by ship.
